Injuries Reported in Plow Truck and Semi Crash on I-84 Between Exits 32 & 33

Southington, CT (March 5, 2026) – A crash involving a tractor-trailer and a snowplow truck caused injuries early Wednesday, March 4, on Interstate 84 in Southington.

Authorities said the accident happened around 4:00 a.m. on the eastbound side of Interstate 84 between exits 32 and 33. Emergency units responded after reports that a large commercial truck and a Connecticut Department of Transportation plow were involved in a collision along the highway.

Responders arrived at the scene and found both vehicles damaged on the roadway. Officials confirmed that the crash involved a tractor-trailer and a state-operated plow truck working in the area during the early morning hours.

Emergency crews evaluated the drivers and anyone else involved in the accident. Authorities reported that several people suffered minor injuries in the crash. Paramedics assessed the injured individuals at the scene. Some victims received additional medical evaluation following the collision.

The crash disrupted traffic along the busy interstate during the early morning commute. Transportation officials reported that the accident initially shut down the eastbound lanes of I-84 between exits 32 and 33. Transportation officials reopened one lane of traffic at approximately 8:30 a.m.

El Departamento de Transporte de Connecticut has not yet confirmed what led to the crash. Investigators continue gathering information about the events that occurred before the vehicles collided.

Our thoughts remain with those injured as they receive medical care and recover from their injuries.

How Insurance Claims Work After a Truck Crash in Connecticut

Insurance claims after a truck crash in Connecticut usually begin with reporting the accident to the insurance companies involved. Drivers often notify their insurers and provide basic information about the crash, including the location, time, and cars involved. Insurance providers then review the details, gather documentation, and estimate how coverage may apply to medical bills, vehicle damage, and other costs related to the accident.

Truck accidents can involve several insurance policies because commercial vehicles often carry higher coverage limits than passenger cars. A trucking company, the truck driver, and other parties may each have insurance coverage that applies to the collision. Insurance adjusters review police reports, photographs, witness statements, and medical records to understand how the crash occurred.

People injured in truck accidents sometimes face medical issues such as neck injuries, back pain, broken bones, or head trauma. Some symptoms appear immediately after the crash, while others develop hours or days later. Medical visits allow doctors identify these injuries early and create records that may be important for insurance claims and follow-up treatment.

Insurance companies often review medical documentation and repair estimates before deciding how a claim will move forward. In some cases, people receive payments for medical costs, rehabilitation visits, or other accident-related expenses. Coverage details can vary based on the insurance policies involved and the circumstances surrounding the crash.

Because commercial truck collisions can involve complex insurance questions, many people seek legal guidance when reviewing their options. A truck accident attorney can review accident reports, medical documents, and insurance communications to help explain what steps may be available.
