The two then left the scene in a separate vehicle before emergency responders could evaluate them.

Authorities began checking area hospitals after witnesses reported the child appeared to be injured. Shortly after, officials confirmed that the woman and the approximately 2-year-old child arrived at CT Children’s Medical Center for medical attention.

The cause of the rollover has not been released. Authorities continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding this accident.

We extend our sincerest wishes for a full and speedy recovery to both the woman and the young child involved.

Can Minors Seek Compensation After an Injury Crash in Connecticut?

Yes — minors injured in a crash in Connecticut can seek compensation, but the process works differently than it does for adults. Because children cannot file legal claims on their own, a parent or legal guardian must act on their behalf. In cases involving serious injuries to a child, a court may also need to approve any settlement reached before funds are distributed.

Injuries to young children in car accidents can be especially serious. A child involved in a rollover crash may face risks that are not immediately visible, including head trauma, internal injuries, or harm caused by the sudden force of impact. Even if a child appears calm or uninjured at first, medical professionals often recommend thorough evaluation after any accident involving young passengers. Early documentation of injuries is critical, both for the child’s health and for any legal steps that may follow.

In Connecticut, the statute of limitations for personal injury claims is generally two years from the date of the accident. However, when the injured party is a minor, the law provides an important exception. The two-year clock typically does not begin running until the child turns 18, which means a claim may still be filed years after the crash occurred.

This extended window gives families more time to assess the full impact of the injuries before deciding how to move forward. Consulting with a abogado de accidentes de coche early, however, allows more evidence to be preserved and reviewed while details are still fresh.

Keeping records from the start helps protect a family’s options. Medical reports, witness statements, photos of the scene and vehicle, and any correspondence with insurance companies can all become important later. Organizing these materials early makes the process easier to manage down the road.

If your child was hurt in a crash in Connecticut and you have questions about your legal options, L.A.
