Pedestrian Accidents in Farmington

Pedestrian accidents often result in life-changing injuries because individuals on foot have no protection against the impact of a vehicle. In a town like Farmington, where Route 6 serves as a major roadway, the risk of serious pedestrian crashes is heightened during evening hours and in areas with heavy traffic.

Common causes of pedestrian accidents include:

  • Distracted driving – Motorists using phones or other devices may fail to notice people crossing or walking near roadways. Even a brief glance away from the road can cause devastating consequences.
  • Speeding – Higher speeds increase the severity of injuries when a vehicle strikes a pedestrian. Drivers who exceed posted limits have less time to react in busy areas.
  • Failure to yield – Many accidents occur when drivers do not give pedestrians the right-of-way at crosswalks or intersections. This is especially dangerous in residential and commercial areas.
  • Low visibility – Crashes often happen at night or in poorly lit areas where drivers may not see pedestrians until it is too late.

Victims of pedestrian accidents may face extensive medical treatment, long-term rehabilitation, and emotional trauma.

In many cases, these injuries affect a person’s ability to work and maintain their quality of life. That is why speaking with a skilled pedestrian accident attorney is essential. A lawyer can investigate the cause of the crash, gather evidence, and pursue compensation for medical bills, lost wages, pain and suffering, and long-term care needs.
