Franklin, CT (April 13, 2026) – Two people were injured after a vehicle crash that led to a fire along Route 87 in Franklin. The accident happened on Sunday, April 12, just before 3:45 a.m., in the 500 block of Lebanon Road near the Lebanon town line.
Emergency units responded after a caller reported a crash involving injuries. Officials received additional information that the vehicle was smoking and both occupants were outside, lying on the ground. Shortly after, responders confirmed the vehicle had caught fire and a nearby tree was also burning.
Franklin Fire Crews arrived and found the vehicle off the roadway with active flames. Firefighters worked to put out the fire while medical teams evaluated the two injured individuals at the scene. Both patients were then taken to Backus Hospital in Norwich, one with basic life support and the other with advanced care.
Authorities have not released details about the severity of the injuries or what caused the crash. Officials continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding the incident.
