Groton, CT (December 31, 2025) – One resident suffered smoke inhalation injuries following a mobile home fire Monday evening, December 29, at the Laurel Hill Mobile Home Park, according to the Groton Fire Department officials.
Fire and police crews responded to the scene around 7:10 p.m., after reports of a structure fire along Poquonnock Road. When responders arrived, they found a mobile home fully engulfed in flames. Crews acted quickly to control the fire and prevent it from spreading to nearby homes.
Fire officials said wind conditions contributed to the spread of the flames, making firefighting efforts more challenging. Despite the conditions, responders successfully limited damage to a single mobile home. Most of the destruction occurred within that residence.
One occupant suffered smoke inhalation during the fire. Emergency medical personnel evaluated the individual at the scene and transported them for further medical treatment. Officials did not release details about the person’s condition.
The fire caused extensive damage to the mobile home and displaced at least two residents. The American Red Cross stepped in to assist those affected with temporary housing and emergency support.
Police officers and fire officials secured the area while crews completed suppression efforts. Authorities have not reported any additional injuries related to the incident.
The Groton Fire Marshal’s Office has opened an investigation to determine the cause of the fire. The investigation remains ongoing.
