Pedestrian Accidents in Connecticut

Pedestrian accidents can lead to life-threatening injuries, especially when they occur on high-speed roads. Unfortunately, pedestrians are more vulnerable to serious injuries or fatalities in collisions, as they have no physical protection like vehicle occupants.

Common injuries sustained in pedestrian accidents include:

  • Head trauma: When a pedestrian is struck, they are at high risk for head injuries, such as concussions or skull fractures. Even if the impact seems minor, head injuries can be severe, especially if the person falls to the ground upon impact.
  • Spinal cord injuries: A collision with a vehicle can cause spinal cord damage, which may lead to permanent paralysis or other long-term physical limitations. Victims may require extensive rehabilitation or long-term care.
  • Broken bones: The force of the impact can cause fractures, particularly in the legs, arms, and ribs. These injuries often require surgery, extended recovery, and physical therapy.
  • Internal injuries: Pedestrians may suffer internal injuries, including damage to vital organs such as the liver, spleen, or lungs. These injuries may not be immediately visible but require urgent medical attention.
  • Soft tissue injuries: Muscle, tendon, and ligament injuries are common in pedestrian accidents. These injuries can cause long-term pain and discomfort and may require ongoing treatment, such as physical therapy.

Pedestrian accidents can leave victims with serious financial and emotional burdens. If you or a loved one has been involved in a pedestrian accident, it is crucial to seek legal help from an experienced Connecticut pedestrian accident attorney.
