Motorcycle Accidents in Connecticut

Motorcycle accidents throughout Connecticut are unfortunately common, especially in busy city environments with heavy traffic. While riders take precautions, many crashes result from driver negligence or unsafe road conditions.

Some of the most frequent reasons motorcycle accidents occur include:

  • Driver inattention – Motorists often fail to notice motorcycles, particularly in congested traffic. A moment of distraction, such as checking a phone, can result in a serious collision.
  • Failure to yield – Many motorcycle crashes happen at intersections when drivers fail to yield the right of way. This can cause direct impacts that throw riders from their bikes.
  • Blind spots – Motorcycles are smaller than passenger vehicles, making them harder to see. Drivers who fail to check mirrors or blind spots often collide with riders when changing lanes.
  • Speeding – Excessive speed reduces a driver’s reaction time and increases the force of impact during a crash. This is especially dangerous for motorcyclists who have little protection.
  • Unsafe road conditions – Potholes, loose gravel, or poorly marked lanes create extra hazards for riders. Conditions that might not affect a car can easily cause a motorcyclist to lose control.

These factors show why motorcycle accidents remain a serious safety issue in Connecticut. Riders face risks that go beyond their control, often due to the negligence of other drivers.

Injured riders should not have to handle these challenges alone. A skilled motorcycle accident attorney can investigate the cause of the crash, hold negligent drivers accountable, and fight for compensation that supports recovery.
