Hartford, CT (December 21, 2025) – A tragic crash claimed the life of a pedestrian on Saturday, December 20, after two vehicles struck him in Hartford. The deadly collision happened around 9:37 p.m. near the 799 block of Albany Avenue.
Emergency responders arrived within minutes and found the man lying unresponsive in the roadway. Investigators said he entered the street when an eastbound vehicle hit him. Moments later, a westbound vehicle also struck him.
Paramedics tried to save him, but his injuries were too severe. Despite their efforts, he died at the scene. Authorities have not yet released the victim’s name as they work to notify his family.
The eastbound driver stayed and cooperated with officers, while the westbound driver fled immediately after the crash. Police launched a search and later located the fleeing driver.
Investigators spent several hours collecting evidence and speaking with witnesses. The Hartford Police Department continues to examine how the pedestrian entered the roadway and what caused both vehicles to hit him.
We extend our deepest condolences to the victim’s family during this heartbreaking time.
Fatal Pedestrian Accidents in Connecticut
Pedestrian deaths are among the most devastating tragedies on Connecticut roads. When a vehicle hits a person on foot, the pedestrian has almost no protection from serious or fatal injury. Crashes like this often result in loss of life, especially when multiple vehicles are involved.
Hartford County continues to see pedestrian fatalities along busy streets and neighborhood corridors. Drivers may fail to notice people crossing at night, or pedestrians may step into traffic too suddenly for vehicles to stop. Poor lighting, driver distraction, and excessive speeds all raise the risk of these deadly collisions.
Losing a loved one in a pedestrian crash brings deep emotional pain and sudden financial strain. Families face funeral costs, lost income, and the daily reality of life without someone they love. These pressures often feel overwhelming during an already heartbreaking time.
Under Connecticut law, surviving family members may seek compensation for their losses. This financial support can help stabilize a family’s future and ease the hardships that follow such a sudden loss.
Compensation available in fatal pedestrian accident cases may include:
- Funeral and burial expenses
- Lost income and financial support the victim provided
- Loss of companionship and emotional guidance
- Pain and suffering for surviving family members
- Medical expenses from final emergency care
Insurance companies often move quickly to limit payouts, making strong legal guidance critical. A wrongful death attorney can protect your rights, handle the insurance process, and ensure you receive fair and full compensation.
