Scooter Accidents in Hartford
Crashes between scooters and cars are becoming more common in Hartford and other Connecticut cities. Scooters share the road with larger, faster vehicles, leaving riders highly vulnerable when collisions occur.
Unlike car drivers, scooter riders have almost no protection, which means even low-speed accidents can result in significant harm.
Injuries from scooter accidents often mirror those seen in pedestrian accidents. Riders are exposed, and the force of a car can easily cause serious or catastrophic injuries. Some of the most common injuries scooter riders suffer in collisions include:
- Traumatic brain injuries – Head impacts often result in concussions or long-term cognitive issues.
- Neck and back injuries – Sudden impact can strain or damage the spine, leading to chronic pain or paralysis.
- Broken bones – Fractures in arms, legs, or ribs are frequent when riders are thrown from scooters.
- Shoulder injuries – Landing on hard pavement can cause torn ligaments or dislocated shoulders.
- Abdominal injuries – Direct impact with a vehicle can cause organ damage or internal bleeding.
These injuries may require emergency surgery, long hospital stays, rehabilitation, and ongoing medical treatment. Recovery can take months, and many victims face permanent limitations in mobility or daily function.
Victims of scooter accidents may have the right to pursue compensation for medical expenses, lost wages, and pain and suffering. Working with an efficient personal injury attorney is crucial. A lawyer can review the facts, investigate negligence, and ensure victims receive fair treatment from insurance companies.
