Several Injured in Multi-Vehicle Crash on I-84 E

Hartford, CT (March 4, 2026) – A multi-vehicle crash on Interstate 84 East left several people hurt on Tuesday, March 3, in Hartford.

The accident occurred at about 8:30 p.m. along Interstate 84 East. According to the Hartford Fire Department, four cars were involved in the collision.

Fire crews arrived quickly and located one driver trapped inside a vehicle. Rescuers worked to free the driver and then transported that person to a local hospital for evaluation and treatment. Officials did not release details about the severity of the injuries.

Four other people reported minor injuries after the crash. However, they declined ambulance transport at the scene.

Crews temporarily shut down Interstate 84 East while they assisted the injured and cleared the vehicles. Traffic later resumed once responders secured the area.

Connecticut State Police continue to investigate the cause of the crash.

Our thoughts are with those injured as they recover.

What Evidence To Collect After a Multi-Vehicle Crash in Connecticut

After a multi-vehicle crash in Connecticut, you should gather police reports, photographs, witness information, and medical records. This evidence helps document how the accident happened and supports any insurance or legal claim you may want to file.

Photos and videos from the scene can show vehicle positions, damage, road conditions, and traffic signs. You should also exchange insurance and contact information with everyone involved. Witness names and phone numbers can help clarify how the crash unfolded. In multi-car accidents, small details can make a difference when determining responsibility.

Medical documentation plays a key role as well. Even when injuries seem minor, medical visits create records that link symptoms to the collision. Some people feel soreness or stiffness hours after the impact.

Keep copies of discharge papers, treatment plans, and follow-up instructions to better organize your claim. Repair estimates and towing invoices may also become part of the overall documentation.

A car accident attorney can review collected evidence and explain how Connecticut law applies to a specific case. Legal guidance may help clarify what types of compensation could be available for medical bills, lost income, or property damage. Each crash involves unique facts, so reviewing information early often helps prevent confusion later.
