Hartford, CT (December 26, 2025) – A tragic crash on Christmas night in Hartford claimed the life of a 14-year-old and left several others injured, according to police. The collision occurred around 9:20 p.m. in the area of Cornwall Street just south of Hebron Street.
Police said a Toyota Camry and a Tesla Cybertruck collided head-on in the middle of the roadway. Four people were traveling inside the Toyota at the time of the crash. Emergency crews responded and rushed the injured to area hospitals.
The driver of the Toyota, a 50-year-old man, suffered critical injuries. Paramedics transported him to the hospital, where he remains in critical condition. A 14-year-old passenger also sustained severe injuries and later died at the hospital.
Two other passengers from the Toyota also required medical care. Police said a woman in her 20s and a 3-year-old girl were taken to the hospital and are both listed in stable condition.
Authorities reported that the driver of the Tesla Cybertruck fled the scene on foot after the crash. Investigators believe the Cybertruck crossed over the yellow center line and struck the Toyota head-on. Police stated they have spoken with the owner of the Cybertruck and do not believe the owner was driving at the time of the collision.
Officials said they do not believe the vehicle was stolen. Investigators continue following leads to identify the driver involved. The investigation remains ongoing as police work to determine responsibility in this fatal crash.
