Groton, CT – Serious Injuries After Crash on I-95 NB at Exit 89 Opas

Groton, CT (November 28, 2025) – A serious crash shut down the northbound Exit 89 off ramp on Interstate 95 in Groton on Thursday, November 27, Polícia Estadual de Connecticut said. The Connecticut Department of Transportation received the first report at about 11:48 a.m. Troopers and local crews rushed to the scene to help the injured and control the area.

Police closed the off-ramp for several hours while emergency teams worked. The closure kept northbound drivers from exiting onto Allyn Street. Crews stayed on site through the afternoon as they treated victims, cleared damaged vehicles, and documented what happened. The state later reopened the ramp at about 5:25 p.m.

Officials confirmed that the crash caused serious injuries. However, they have not said how many people were hurt or how many vehicles were involved. Police also have not released names or detailed circumstances yet. 

State Police confirmed the investigation remains ongoing.
