Serious Pedestrian Crash on I-84 E Near Exit 46

Hartford, CT (December 10, 2025) – A pedestrian suffered serious injuries after a crash on Interstate 84 East in Hartford on Tuesday afternoon, December 9. Polícia Estadual de Connecticut said officers responded to the area near Exit 46 after receiving reports of a pedestrian involved in a collision. The incident happened around 3:15 p.m.

When troopers arrived, they found a pedestrian badly hurt on the highway. Emergency medical crews rushed in to provide care. Police confirmed the injuries were serious, but they did not release the person’s identity or current condition. They also have not said what led to the impact.

State officials closed Interstate 84 East for several hours while crews worked the scene. During that time, troopers secured the area and gathered early evidence. The Connecticut Department of Transportation later confirmed that the highway reopened Tuesday evening after investigators finished their initial work.

The Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Squad responded to the location to help review what happened. Connecticut State Police continue to investigate this crash.

We hope the injured pedestrian receives strong medical care and has a full recovery.

Acidentes de pedestres em Connecticut

Pedestrian crashes on major roads often cause severe harm because the human body has no protection against the force of a vehicle. Even one impact can throw a person onto the pavement or into another lane. These crashes also happen at higher speeds than neighborhood streets, which increases injury risk.

Victims in serious pedestrian accidents may face injuries such as:

  • Traumatic brain injuries, including concussions or bleeding in the brain that can affect memory and behavior.
  • Spinal cord damage may cause lasting pain, weakness, or loss of movement.
  • Broken bones, especially in the legs, hips, ribs, or arms, often need surgery and a long recovery.
  • Internal injuries, like organ damage or internal bleeding that can become life-threatening without quick treatment.
  • Severe neck and back injuries, including disc damage that limits daily movement.
  • Deep cuts and bruising, sometimes linked to shattered glass or contact with the roadway.
  • Pelvic injuries can make walking painful and require months of rehabilitation.

Some injuries show up right away, while others develop after the shock wears off. Head and internal injuries are especially dangerous because symptoms may start mild, then get worse later. Doctors often urge pedestrian crash victims to receive a full evaluation even if they feel alert at the scene.

In Connecticut, pedestrian accidents can occur for many reasons. Some involve drivers who do not see someone in time. Others involve pedestrians facing confusion, poor lighting, or limited safe crossing areas. No matter the cause, victims deserve clear answers and support through recovery.

After a crash like this, victims and families often face medical stress, lost income, and pressure from insurers. A advogado de acidentes de pedestres can investigate the scene, gather witness accounts, and work with experts to prove what happened. A lawyer can also handle insurance negotiations and fight for compensation that reflects the true cost of recovery.
