What Compensation Can I Recover After a Hit-and-Run in Connecticut?

After a hit-and-run accident in Connecticut, an injured person may be able to recover compensation for medical bills, lost income, and other related losses. The exact types of compensation depend on the facts of the crash and the severity of the injuries. Understanding these options can help people take informed steps after a collision.

Medical expenses often make up a large part of a claim. These may include emergency treatment, follow-up visits, physical therapy, and medication. Even in cases with minor injuries, ongoing care can add up over time, especially if symptoms appear hours after the accident.

Lost income is another factor many people face. Time away from work during recovery can affect daily finances. In some situations, injuries may limit a person’s ability to return to their usual job, which can create longer-term challenges.

Connecticut law may also allow injured individuals to seek compensation through uninsured motorist coverage if the driver leaves the scene. This type of coverage can apply when the at-fault driver cannot be located or does not carry insurance. Keeping records of medical care, accident details, and communication with insurers can help support a claim.
