Do I Need to Report a Hit-and-Run to the Police in Connecticut?

Yes, Connecticut law requires drivers to report a hit-and-run accident to the police, especially when injuries are involved. Reporting the crash helps create an official record and allows officers to begin looking into what happened. Acting quickly can also help preserve important details.

Filing a report gives authorities a starting point to gather evidence and track down the driver. Even when there are no witnesses, officers may rely on nearby cameras, physical evidence, or other leads. Providing as much information as possible, such as the location, time, and any details remembered, can help with the process.

Hit-and-run accidents often leave injured pedestrians dealing with both physical and logistical challenges. Injuries may include fractures, head trauma, or soft tissue damage that requires follow-up care. Medical visits help document these injuries and create records that may be useful when reviewing insurance matters or next steps.

UM advogado de acidentes de pedestres can explain how reporting requirements may affect a claim. They may also review available records, help organize documents, and outline what types of compensation may be available depending on the situation.
