One Hurt in Camper Fire on Heritage Dr in Southington, CT

Southington, CT (June 13, 2026) – One person was hurt, and a dog was rescued after a camper fire spread to a nearby home on Thursday morning, June 11, on Heritage Drive in Southington.

Fire crews arrived around 1:10 a.m. and found the camper fully involved. The fire spread to the left side of the home and reached the attic. Crews called a second alarm for more support.

Firefighters attacked the camper fire with handlines before moving inside the home to stop the flames from spreading. One person suffered minor burns, received treatment at the scene, and went to the hospital.

Everyone inside the home got out before crews arrived. Four people were displaced because of the fire.

Mutual aid came from Meriden, Bristol, Cheshire, Plainville, Wolcott, Kensington, and Middletown fire departments. Local authorities are investigating the cause of the fire.

Our thoughts are with the family displaced by this fire.

Who Can Be Held Liable for a Camper Fire in Southington, CT?

When a camper fire spreads, liability depends on what started it and who had control over the risk. The camper owner, a product maker, or a repair company may share fault. Connecticut law allows you to bring a claim against anyone whose negligence helped cause the fire.

In Southington, neighborhoods near Heritage Drive, Berlin Avenue, and Meriden-Waterbury Turnpike often have homes, sheds, campers, and parked vehicles close together. A fire that starts beside a house can reach the structure within minutes. That tight spacing can turn a small fire into a serious displacement claim.

If faulty wiring caused it, a propane leak or defective camper appliance may also point to manufacturer liability under Connecticut product liability law. These claims focus on unsafe products that fail and cause injuries or property damage. Fire experts can trace the fire back to the part that failed.

Once investigators finish their review, the fire marshal’s report can become key evidence. It may show where the fire started, how it spread, and whether unsafe storage or code issues played a role. Getting that report early can help protect your claim.

Before insurers decide who pays, they may review the camper’s location, maintenance history, and ownership. If the camper owner ignored known problems or parked it too close to the house, their insurance may apply. A landlord may also face liability if unsafe property conditions contributed to the fire.

Because fire claims get complicated, you need clear records from the start. Medical bills, hotel costs, repair estimates, lost belongings, and photos can help show the full damage. Four displaced residents may face costs that grow quickly after the fire.

While the investigation continues, a advogado de danos pessoais can help identify every possible source of recovery. Fire cases may involve homeowners’ insurance, renters’ insurance, product liability coverage, and third-party claims. Missing one source can reduce what you may recover.
