Pedestrian Injured After Being Struck on I-95 Near Exit 88

Groton, CT (February 4, 2026) – A pedestrian suffered injuries after being struck by a vehicle Tuesday night, February 3, on Interstate 95 south in Groton, according to the Polícia Estadual de Connecticut. The crash occurred near Exit 88 and led to a temporary shutdown of the highway while authorities investigated the scene.

Officials said the pedestrian was hit by a motorist traveling southbound on I-95. Emergency units responded and located the injured person, who was then taken to a nearby hospital for treatment. Police indicated that the injuries were believed to be non-life-threatening, though no additional details about the pedestrian’s condition were released.

The crash caused significant disruption as authorities closed the affected portion of the highway during the investigation. Crews worked to secure the area and document what happened before reopening the roadway. Drivers were later allowed to resume travel once officials cleared the scene.

Emergency responders focused on medical care and scene safety as they gathered information. Police have not confirmed what led up to the crash. Investigators will continue reviewing.

Our thoughts remain with the injured pedestrian as they continue to recover.

What Damages Can a Pedestrian Seek After an Accident in Connecticut?

After a pedestrian accident in Connecticut, an injured person may be able to seek damages such as medical expenses, lost income, and future treatment costs. Some cases may also involve compensation related to physical limitations or pain caused by the injuries. The damages available depend on the circumstances of the accident and how the injuries affect daily life.

Medical costs often make up a large part of pedestrian injury claims. Hospital visits, follow-up care, physical therapy, and medication expenses can add up quickly. Even injuries labeled as non-life-threatening may still require ongoing treatment or monitoring over time. Keeping records of all medical visits helps clarify the scope of these losses.

Lost wages may also be part of a pedestrian accident claim. Some people need time away from work to recover or attend medical appointments. In situations where injuries limit a person’s ability to return to the same job, future income losses may also be considered.

Pedestrian accidents can also result in longer-term effects that go beyond financial costs. Pain, mobility issues, or reduced ability to participate in daily activities may become part of recovery. These impacts vary from person to person and depend on the nature of the injuries and treatment required.
