Man Struck by Vehicle on I-91 North Near Exit 45

Hartford, CT (May 19, 2026) – A man suffered serious injuries after a vehicle struck him on Interstate 91 North near exit 45 in Hartford on Tuesday, May 19, at approximately 3:57 a.m. The man had stepped out of his truck to recover debris that had fallen from his vehicle when the crash occurred.

Polícia de Hartford and emergency units arrived to find the man unresponsive and face down in the center lane. Responders applied a tourniquet to his arm and performed CPR at the scene. Crews then transported him by advanced life support ambulance to Hartford Hospital.

The incident prompted authorities to close I-91 North between exits 44 and 45. The closure remained in effect as emergency crews worked the scene. Additional details about the man’s identity and current condition have not been released.

Authorities are investigating the full circumstances of this serious crash.

Our thoughts remain with the injured man and his family as he recovers.

What Evidence Should I Collect After a Pedestrian Crash in Hartford, CT?

After a pedestrian crash in Hartford, collecting evidence as early as possible is one of the most important steps a victim or their family can take. The strongest cases are built on documentation gathered in the hours and days immediately following the accident before memories fade, surveillance footage gets erased, and physical evidence disappears.

If you are physically able to do so at the scene, photograph everything. Capture the road surface, skid marks, vehicle positions, any debris, lighting conditions, and your own visible injuries. If witnesses stopped or were nearby, collect their names and contact information before they leave.

On a highway such as I-91, dash camera footage from other drivers and Connecticut Department of Transportation traffic cameras can also capture critical details that no one else recorded.

Medical records form another essential layer of evidence. Every hospital visit, diagnosis, and treatment note creates a documented link between the crash and your injuries. Do not skip follow-up appointments: gaps in treatment can be used by insurance companies to argue that your injuries were not as serious as claimed.

Beyond photos and medical records, preserve everything connected to the crash. Save the police report, any correspondence with insurance companies, records of missed work, and receipts for out-of-pocket expenses.

Connecticut gives accident victims two years from the date of a crash to file a personal injury lawsuit, but building a strong case takes time. In this regard, a advogado de acidentes de pedestres can help you build a strong and compelling claim to fight for your losses and injuries.
