Hartford, CT (May 13, 2026) – A three-vehicle crash involving two cars and a tractor-trailer shut down multiple lanes on Interstate 91 South near exit 29 in Hartford early Wednesday morning, May 13. The collision occurred at around 5:55 a.m. and left two people trapped inside one of the vehicles.
Emergency units responded and performed extrication on two people who were trapped in the rear of one of the cars. Injuries were reported, though authorities indicated they did not appear to be life-threatening at the time of response.
Following the crash, a female driver left the scene and was last seen heading down the exit 29A ramp toward the convention center. Authorities have not confirmed whether she was subsequently located. The remaining vehicles blocked three lanes of I-91 South while emergency crews worked the scene.
Connecticut State police confirmed the highway closed between exits 30 and 29A before reopening to traffic. Authorities continue to investigate the crash.
Our thoughts remain with those injured as they receive care and work toward recovery.
When Should I Notify My Insurance Company After a Crash in Connecticut?
After a crash in Connecticut, you should contact your insurance company as soon as possible — most policies require prompt reporting, and waiting too long can create complications with your claim. In a serious multi-vehicle accident, notifying your insurer quickly helps set the claims process in motion while details are still fresh.
When you contact your insurance company, keep your account of events straightforward. Provide basic facts about what happened, where, and when. Avoid speculating about fault or making detailed statements before you have a clear picture of the situation. Insurance adjusters may use early statements during the review process, so it helps to speak with an attorney before giving a recorded account.
Multi-vehicle crashes involving tractor-trailers in Connecticut often involve more than one insurance policy. When a commercial truck is part of a collision, additional layers of liability may apply — including the trucking company, cargo loaders, or vehicle maintenance contractors. A advogado de acidentes de carro can help sort through those details, communicate with insurers on your behalf, and make sure important deadlines are not missed.
Keeping organized records from the start also makes the process easier to manage. Hold onto medical bills, correspondence with your insurance company, and any documentation related to missed work or lost income. Connecticut has a statute of limitations for personal injury claims, so acting early helps preserve your legal options.
