Rollover Crash Sends Child to Hospital on Old Farms Rd in Simsbury, CT

Simsbury, CT (June 8, 2026) – A single-vehicle rollover on Old Farms Road in Simsbury sent at least one child to the hospital on Saturday evening, June 6. The Simsbury Police and emergency units received multiple 911 calls shortly before 6:30 p.m. that reported an overturned vehicle.

The crash occurred between Victoria Lane and Old Farms Road. Two people were in the vehicle, including one child, and both had gotten out on their own before help arrived. A utility pole was also struck and sustained heavy damage.

Field sobriety testing was conducted on the driver and returned negative results. The child was taken to Connecticut Children’s Medical Center for evaluation, though the extent of injuries was not confirmed. No additional information about the other occupant was included in the initial report on the accident.

Hedgehog Road was closed between Old Farms Road and Victoria Lane while utility crews worked to address the damage. The collision remains under investigation.

We hope both occupants recover fully.

Most Common Injuries in Rollover Crashes Near Simsbury, CT

Rollover crashes are among the most physically demanding collisions a person can survive. When a vehicle overturns, occupants are subjected to forces from multiple directions in rapid succession, even when seat belts are worn and airbags deploy. Children are especially vulnerable, as their developing bodies absorb impact differently than adults. The most frequently reported injuries in rollovers include head and brain trauma, spinal injuries, broken bones, and soft tissue damage to the neck, shoulders, and back.

Old Farms Road runs through a largely rural stretch of Simsbury, with winding sections and varying road widths that can be unforgiving at higher speeds. Crashes in these areas often involve contact with roadside objects, which can significantly increase the severity of injuries sustained.

Some rollover injuries are not immediately apparent. Spinal compression, internal bruising, and concussions can go undetected in the immediate aftermath, particularly when adrenaline masks pain. This is one reason medical evaluation following a rollover is important, even when a person feels relatively unharmed at the scene. For children, precautionary evaluation is standard practice given how differently pediatric patients present symptoms.
