Investigators said William Drouin, of East Hartford, was crossing the roadway on foot when a vehicle struck him with tremendous force.<\/p>\n<p>Firefighters rushed to the scene and worked quickly to help him. Paramedics provided urgent care before taking Drouin to a nearby hospital. Doctors tried to save him, but his injuries were too severe, and he passed away shortly after arrival.<\/p>\n<p>The driver involved stayed at the scene and is cooperating with investigators.
