Bloomfield, CT (November 20, 2025) \u2013<\/b> A pedestrian died early Wednesday morning, November 19, after a dump truck hit him on Woodland Avenue near West Newberry Road. The crash happened around 6:20 a.m., prompting a large emergency response from the <\/span>Bloomfield Police Department<\/span><\/a>, medics, and accident reconstruction teams.<\/span><\/p>\n

When officers arrived, they found the victim unresponsive on the ground with severe head trauma. Medics pronounced him dead at the scene a short time later. Police have not released the victim\u2019s identity, as they continued making next-of-kin notifications through the afternoon hours.<\/span><\/p>\n

A short time after the crash, officers located the involved vehicle\u2014an International 2000 Series dump truck\u2014near Woodland Avenue and Wintonbury Avenue. According to police, the driver told investigators they were unaware a collision had occurred. The driver has cooperated fully with the investigation.<\/span><\/p>\n

The North Central Municipal Accident Reconstruction Team responded to examine the scene and gather evidence. The Connecticut Department of Motor Vehicles Truck Squad also carried out a full commercial vehicle inspection of the dump truck. Woodland Avenue remained closed for part of the morning while crews worked, but the roadway has since reopened.<\/span><\/p>\n

Police stated that accident reconstruction specialists continue to investigate the circumstances of the collision. No charges have been filed at this time.<\/span><\/p>\n
