The collision happened around 1:45 p.m. near the middle of the roadway.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.suffieldct.gov\/departments\/police\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Suffield Police<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> reported that a sedan traveled south on Route 159 when it crossed over the double yellow lines. The sedan then slammed head-on into a sprinter-style van that was moving north. The impact crushed the front ends of both vehicles and brought traffic to a stop as people called for help.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">The sedan driver, Carol M. Brenton, age seventy-seven, from Windsor Locks, suffered very serious injuries. Paramedics rushed to assist her and transported her for emergency care. Despite treatment, she later died from those injuries. Police said the two people inside the van stayed at the scene and reported only minor injuries.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Investigators have not shared why the sedan crossed the center lines.
