Connecticut Motorcycle Accidents

Motorcycle accidents are a tragic and all-too-common occurrence on Connecticut’s roadways, often ending in fatal consequences. With major highways like I-95, I-84, and Route 2 cutting through the state, riders face constant risks—from unpredictable weather to reckless drivers and congested traffic patterns. Even the most experienced motorcyclists are vulnerable when others on the road fail to drive responsibly.

Unlike occupants in passenger vehicles, motorcyclists have little protection in a crash. As a result, many collisions lead to devastating outcomes, leaving families heartbroken and searching for answers.

Some of the leading causes of fatal motorcycle accidents in Connecticut include:

  • Driver Inattention: Motorcycles can be harder to spot, and when drivers are distracted—by a text message, GPS, or conversation—tragedy can strike in an instant.
  • Impaired Driving: Motorcyclists are at the mercy of others’ choices. When drivers get behind the wheel under the influence of alcohol or drugs, the consequences can be deadly.
  • Excessive Speed: Speeding doesn’t just reduce reaction time—it increases the force of impact. For motorcyclists, that can mean catastrophic or fatal injuries.
