Voluntown, CT (September 1, 2025) – Two riders were injured on Sunday morning, August 31, in a crash involving a motorcycle and a dirt bike on Preston City Road in Voluntown. The collision occurred around 10:27 a.m. in the 200 block of the roadway, according to state police.
Investigators reported that the operator of a motorcycle was traveling south on Preston City Road when he collided with a dirt bike and then struck an embankment off the northbound shoulder.
The motorcycle rider sustained suspected serious injuries and was airlifted to Rhode Island Hospital for treatment. The dirt bike rider suffered minor injuries and was taken to Backus Hospital for care. The roadway was temporarily closed to allow state police to investigate and document the scene. Fire officials later confirmed that Preston City Road has since reopened.
The Voluntown Police Department continues to review the circumstances of the crash.
