Who Pays for Medical Bills After a Car Accident in Windsor?

After a car accident in Connecticut, medical bills may be paid through a mix of insurance coverage and, in some cases, a claim against the at-fault driver. The exact process depends on the details of the crash and the types of insurance involved.

Connecticut follows a fault-based system for car accidents. This means the driver responsible for the crash may be held liable for damages, including medical expenses. Injured people often start by using their own health insurance, and then claims may be filed against the other driver’s liability coverage.

Medical costs after a crash can vary widely. People may need emergency care, follow-up visits, physical therapy, or imaging tests. Some injuries, like neck or back strain, may not show symptoms right away but still require treatment over time. Keeping records of all medical visits and expenses can help track recovery and support any claims.

A car accident lawyer can help review insurance policies and explain how coverage may apply. This may include looking at medical bills, accident reports, and communication with insurance companies. Legal guidance can also help clarify what types of compensation may be available depending on the situation.

In some cases, disputes may arise over who is responsible or what costs should be covered. An attorney can help organize documents and explain how these issues are handled. This can make it easier to understand next steps and how to approach insurance discussions.
