Pedestrian Accidents in Connecticut

Pedestrian accidents near universities and busy intersections are a growing concern across Connecticut. With students frequently walking between campus buildings, crosswalks, and bus stops, areas surrounding schools and colleges experience heavy foot and vehicle traffic. Even a brief moment of inattention from a driver can cause serious harm to someone crossing the street.

Victims of pedestrian collisions often face a wide range of injuries, including:

  • Neck and back injuries due to impact or sudden movement
  • Broken bones and fractures in the arms, legs, or pelvis
  • Head and brain injuries from hitting the pavement or vehicle
  • Soft tissue injuries, including bruising and sprains
  • Internal injuries that may not appear immediately after the crash

Although the student’s injuries in this case were reported as not life-threatening, many pedestrian accidents result in more serious or long-term medical conditions. Recovery can require ongoing treatment, rehabilitation, and emotional support.

When a pedestrian is injured because a driver fails to yield or pay attention, they may have the right to pursue compensation for their medical costs, lost wages, and pain and suffering. Consulting an experienced pedestrian accident attorney can help victims understand their legal rights and ensure they receive fair treatment.
