Hit-and-Run Accidents in Connecticut

Hit-and-run crashes happen far too often across Connecticut, especially in Hartford County. These accidents continue to rise each year, affecting drivers, pedestrians, and cyclists across the state. They occur in seconds but cause long-lasting pain for victims and their families.

Most hit-and-run crashes happen at night or in busy intersections where visibility is poor. Many involve drivers who speed, lose focus, or panic after causing a collision. Those who flee often do it to avoid arrest, license suspension, or insurance penalties, leaving innocent people behind with severe or life-threatening injuries.

Victims often suffer broken bones, head trauma, or internal injuries that require long hospital stays and months of recovery. Along with the physical pain, many face emotional trauma, financial strain, and the uncertainty of how to cover mounting medical bills and ongoing care.

Even when the driver escapes, victims still have legal options. Connecticut law allows injured individuals to seek compensation through their uninsured motorist coverage or other financial sources.

Compensation for hit-and-run victims may include:

  • Medical expenses and hospitalization costs
  • Lost income and future earnings
  • Pain and suffering damages
  • Emotional distress and therapy costs
  • Long-term or permanent disability care

Insurance companies often try to settle these claims for less than victims deserve. Working with a skilled car accident lawyer helps ensure you receive fair compensation and full protection of your rights.
