Why Preserving Medical Records Matters After a Highway Crash in Old Lyme, CT

Medical records created in the days and weeks following a crash can serve as the clearest record of what happened to a person’s body and how their injuries developed over time.

Injuries from multi-vehicle crashes don’t always appear right away. Someone might feel fine at the scene but develop symptoms like stiffness, headaches, or numbness hours or days later. Waiting to seek care, or having gaps between visits, can make it harder to connect those symptoms back to the crash, which is part of why early and consistent documentation matters.

A car accident lawyer tends to rely on complete medical records to show how an injury progressed and what kind of treatment was needed. Missing records or unexplained gaps in care can raise questions later about whether an injury was caused by the crash or something else. Legal guidance can help someone understand what kind of documentation may be useful to keep as their treatment continues.

Car accident victims tend to have many questions about what to do next, including how to keep track of medical care. At L.A. LAW, our team is available to go over these kinds of questions and walk you through what options may be open for you under Connecticut law.
