Four-Vehicle Crash Closes I-91 S

Windsor, CT (July 3, 2026) – Four vehicles were involved in a multi-car collision on I-91 South near Exit 37 on Friday morning, July 3.

Windsor Fire and emergency services rushed to the scene around 9:00 a.m. and left cars spread across several lanes of the highway. Troopers shut down the roadway briefly before reopening a single center lane to traffic.

The full extent of injuries has not been released at the time.

The investigation into what caused the pileup is still underway.

We hope everyone involved in this morning’s collision is doing well.

How Do Fault Rules Work After a Multi-Vehicle Crash in Windsor, CT?

Connecticut follows a modified comparative negligence standard, which means a driver can still recover damages as long as they are found less than 51 percent at fault for the crash. This becomes especially important on stretches like I-91 South, where merging traffic from nearby routes can make it difficult to determine which driver triggered a chain-reaction pileup that involves several cars.

People caught in multi-vehicle crashes on busy highways can deal with whiplash, concussions, or back injuries that can take hours or days to fully surface. Even when a person feels fine immediately afterward, delayed pain or stiffness is common following a sudden lane-closing collision.

Sorting out fault among several drivers can get complicated fast, which is why a car accident lawyer can be useful in gathering police reports, dashcam footage, and witness statements before details fade. Connecticut generally allows two years from the date of the crash to file a personal injury claim, so timing matters when multiple insurers are involved.
