Teenager Hospitalized After Being Struck by Vehicle on Rte 229

Bristol, CT (September 18, 2025) – A 17-year-old male was struck by a vehicle early Wednesday morning, September 17, while crossing Route 229 in Bristol. The incident occurred around 6:20 a.m. in the 200 block of the highway. Emergency responders quickly arrived at the scene, and the teenager was transported to the hospital for evaluation of his injuries. He is currently listed in serious, but stable condition.

The driver involved in the accident remained at the scene and is fully cooperating with authorities. Police have confirmed that the driver’s actions did not indicate any intent to flee, and they are continuing to investigate the circumstances surrounding the collision.

Route 229 was temporarily closed in both directions to allow for emergency response and investigation, but has since been reopened to all traffic.

At this time, the investigation is ongoing, and the Bristol Police Department is working to gather more information. Further details about the exact cause of the accident, including whether speed, weather, or distracted driving played a role, have not been disclosed.

Our thoughts are with the injured teenager and his family, and we hope for his swift recovery.

Pedestrian Accidents in Connecticut

Pedestrian accidents, especially those involving serious injuries, are a tragic reminder of the dangers pedestrians face on busy roads, especially during early morning hours.

The unfortunate accident on Route 229 is an example of how vulnerable pedestrians are in areas where vehicle traffic is high. In these cases, even if the driver stays at the scene and cooperates, the injured individual often faces a long road to recovery.

In situations like these, victims of pedestrian accidents can suffer from various types of injuries, including:

  • Head injuries: These are some of the most severe injuries that occur in pedestrian accidents and can lead to long-term complications.
  • Neck and back injuries: Pedestrians struck by vehicles often suffer damage to the spine, which can result in chronic pain or even paralysis.
  • Fractures: Broken bones are common, especially in the limbs, pelvis, or ribs, and may require extensive medical treatment and rehabilitation.
  • Internal injuries: In severe cases, pedestrians can suffer internal bleeding or damage to organs, requiring urgent medical care.

If you or a loved one has been involved in a pedestrian accident, it’s crucial to understand your legal rights and options for compensation.
