Pedestrian Struck and Killed on Hazard Ave Near Glen Arden Ln

Enfield, CT (November 21, 2025) – A tragic crash on Thursday, November 20, claimed the life of a pedestrian on Route 19, also known as Hazard Avenue, near Glen Arden Lane. The collision occurred just before 9 p.m., according to the Enfield Police Department.

Officers say the pedestrian was walking in the area when a Toyota Camry struck them. The driver immediately stopped and stayed at the scene. Police report that the driver cooperated fully with investigators as emergency crews arrived to help the injured pedestrian.

Medics transported the victim to Johnson Memorial Hospital for urgent medical care. Despite lifesaving efforts, the pedestrian was pronounced dead after arriving at the hospital. Authorities have not released the identity of the victim as they work to notify family members.

The Enfield Police Department Traffic Division continues to investigate the crash with support from the Metro Traffic Regional Reconstruction Team. These teams documented the scene, analyzed evidence, and interviewed witnesses to determine exactly what led to the deadly impact.

We extend our deepest condolences to the loved ones of the victim during this heartbreaking time.

Pedestrian Accidents in Connecticut

Pedestrian accidents continue to be a serious concern across Connecticut, especially in towns like Enfield where busy roadways connect neighborhoods, shops, and residential communities. Hazard Avenue is a well-traveled route, and nighttime conditions often make it harder for drivers to see people walking nearby. Even a brief moment of distraction or low visibility can lead to fatal consequences.

Pedestrians face extreme risk during any traffic collision. Without the protection of a vehicle, even a low-speed crash can cause life-threatening injuries. Families suddenly affected by a fatal pedestrian accident often face emotional pain, unexpected expenses, and unanswered questions about what steps to take next.

While every accident is different, many families choose to speak with a wrongful death attorney to understand their rights and explore their options. Wrongful death cases can help families pursue compensation for funeral expenses, medical bills, emotional suffering, and the loss of support from their loved one.

Pedestrian crashes also highlight the importance of safety on Connecticut roads. Factors such as low lighting, heavy traffic, unclear crosswalks, and driver inattention all contribute to an increased risk of accidents. Law enforcement agencies rely on collision reconstruction teams to determine speed, impact points, and roadway conditions to find out what happened and help prevent future tragedies.

If you lose a loved one in a pedestrian accident, several steps may help protect your family:

  • Gather information about the crash, including police reports, witness statements, and medical records. These documents play an important role in understanding what occurred.
  • Seek support from family and community resources, as grief after a sudden loss can be overwhelming.
  • Consult with an attorney, especially one experienced in fatal pedestrian accidents. Legal guidance can help families navigate insurance claims, protect their rights, and pursue fair compensation.
  • Document your losses, including funeral expenses and the emotional and financial impact of losing a loved one.

Losing someone in a sudden accident can change a family’s life forever. Having the right support can help families through the difficult days that follow.
