Fatal Pedestrian Crash on Queen St

Southington, CT (December 9, 2025) – A deadly pedestrian crash happened on Sunday, December 7, on Queen Street in Southington. Southington police said a 70-year-old man died after a car struck him while he tried to cross the road.

Police identified the pedestrian as Ralph Gulla. The crash occurred in the 200 block of Queen Street. Officers said a southbound Honda Civic hit Gulla as he crossed the roadway. First responders arrived around 8:20 p.m. and tried to save him. Despite those efforts, he died from his injuries at the scene.

The driver of the Honda Civic stayed at the location and cooperated with officers. The Southington Police Accident Investigation Team responded and began a full review of the collision. The investigation remains open as officers work to learn exactly how and why this tragic crash happened.

We offer our deepest condolences to Ralph Gulla’s family and loved ones.

Accidentes de peatones en Connecticut

Pedestrians have almost no protection in a collision with a vehicle. Even a careful driver may not have enough time to react if they do not see someone entering the road. On busy streets, traffic can move quickly, and crossings may feel unsafe after dark. These risks make pedestrian safety a serious concern across Connecticut.

People who survive pedestrian accidents often face severe injuries because the body absorbs the full impact. Common injuries include:

  • Head trauma, including concussions or traumatic brain injuries, when a person strikes a hood, windshield, or pavement.
  • Huesos rotos in the legs, hips, ribs, or arms, which can require surgery and long recovery periods.
  • Neck and back injuries, such as whiplash or spinal damage, that may cause lasting pain or mobility limits.
  • Internal injuries, including bleeding or organ damage, which doctors may not detect right away without testing.
  • Deep cuts and road rash from sliding on pavement, sometimes leading to infection or permanent scarring.

Fatal crashes create a different kind of harm for families. A sudden loss can bring grief, financial stress, and unanswered questions. In a wrongful death case, loved ones may have the right to seek accountability if negligence played a role. A abogado de muerte por negligencia can help gather evidence, review crash reports, and handle communication with insurance companies while the family focuses on healing.
