Does Auto Insurance Cover Pedestrian Injuries in Connecticut?

Yes, auto insurance can cover pedestrian injuries in Connecticut in many situations. When a driver strikes a pedestrian, the driver’s liability insurance often pays for medical bills and other related losses, depending on the policy limits and facts of the crash.

Coverage may also apply through uninsured or underinsured motorist benefits if the driver lacks adequate insurance.

Pedestrian accidents often result in serious harm because the human body has no protection against the force of a vehicle. Common injuries include facial trauma, head injuries, broken bones, and internal damage.

Even at lower speeds, a collision can cause lasting medical issues that require follow-up visits, imaging tests, and physical therapy. Keeping clear medical records helps connect the injuries directly to the accident.

Connecticut law requires drivers to carry minimum liability insurance, but policy limits may not always cover the full extent of a pedestrian’s losses. In some cases, health insurance may cover initial treatment while an injury claim moves forward.

Insurance companies typically review medical records, accident reports, and witness statements before deciding how to handle a claim.

A abogado de accidentes peatonales can review available insurance policies and explain how coverage may apply in a pedestrian injury case.
