Will Insurance Cover My Medical Bills After a Pedestrian Crash in New Britain?

Insurance may cover medical bills after a pedestrian crash in New Britain, but coverage depends on available policies, fault, and policy limits. Connecticut law requires drivers to carry liability insurance, which can apply when a vehicle strikes a pedestrian.

Several types of insurance may apply after a pedestrian accident. The driver’s liability policy often serves as the first source of coverage. Uninsured motorist coverage and health insurance may also help when the at-fault driver does not have enough insurance.

Fault plays a central role in how insurers handle pedestrian injury claims. Connecticut follows a modified comparative fault rule. If a pedestrian shares some responsibility for the crash, that percentage can reduce the amount available through a claim.

Medical costs from pedestrian accidents can include emergency room treatment, diagnostic imaging, and follow-up care. Surgery, physical therapy, and prescription medication may also factor into the total. These expenses can accumulate quickly, especially when recovery extends over weeks or months.

Some situations lead to limited or denied coverage. Policy limits may not cover the full cost of serious injuries. Insurers may also dispute liability or argue that the pedestrian contributed to the accident.
