The investigation into the crash remains open.

Our thoughts remain with those affected as they receive care and recover from their injuries.

Who Pays for Medical Bills After a Car Accident in Connecticut?

After a car accident in Connecticut, the at-fault driver’s liability insurance is generally responsible for covering the medical bills of those who were hurt. Connecticut follows a fault-based system, which means the driver who caused the crash bears financial responsibility for the resulting injuries and losses.

In practice, recovering those costs is not always immediate. Medical bills can begin adding up quickly after a crash, while insurance negotiations often take time. In the meantime, an injured person may need to use their own health insurance to cover initial treatment costs.

Some people also carry Medical Payments coverage — known as MedPay — as part of their own auto insurance policy, which can help pay for medical expenses regardless of who caused the accident.

Rollover crashes can cause serious injuries. Spinal damage, head trauma, broken bones, and soft tissue injuries are common outcomes when a vehicle flips. Even when initial injuries appear minor, symptoms can worsen in the days following the crash. Seeking prompt medical attention and keeping detailed records of all treatments and expenses helps build a stronger foundation for a future claim.

When medical bills grow and recovery takes longer than expected, a personal injury lawyer can help an injured person understand what compensation may be available. A abogado de accidentes automovilísticos can communicate with insurance companies, review medical documentation, and explain what options exist under Connecticut law.
