Farmington, CT – Motorcyclist Killed by DUI Driver at Plainville Ave & Meadow Rd

Motorcyclist Killed After Being Struck by OUI Driver at Plainville Ave & Meadow Rd

Farmington, CT (May 19, 2026) – A motorcyclist died after a pickup truck driver struck them at the intersection of Plainville Avenue and Meadow Road in Farmington. Farmington Police and emergency units responded to the crash after multiple 911 callers reported the motorcyclist in cardiac arrest.

First responders arrived to find the motorcyclist in critical condition and began CPR. A medical helicopter was initially requested but later canceled as ground crews transported the victim to John Dempsey Hospital. Doctors at the hospital pronounced the motorcyclist dead.

The crash also involved a school bus that the same pickup truck struck. One child was onboard the bus at the time of the collision. Neither the child nor the bus driver suffered injuries, though crews transported the child to a hospital as a precautionary measure.

Authorities arrested the pickup truck driver for operating under the influence. The driver faces additional charges connected to the crash. An accident reconstruction team responded to the scene, and the roadway remained closed for an extended period.

We extend our deepest condolences to the family and loved ones of the motorcyclist killed in this crash.

Who Can File a Wrongful Death Claim in Farmington, CT?

In Farmington, CT, the executor or administrator of the deceased person’s estate is the only party legally permitted to file a wrongful death claim. However, any compensation recovered through that claim goes directly to the surviving family members, including a spouse, children, or other dependents.

Connecticut law allows wrongful death claims when another person’s negligence or misconduct causes a death. A DUI-related crash falls squarely into that category. When a driver chooses to operate a vehicle while impaired and kills someone as a result, surviving family members may have the right to seek compensation for funeral expenses, lost financial support, and the loss of the relationship and companionship the deceased provided.

Connecticut sets a two-year statute of limitations on wrongful death claims, meaning families need to act within that window to preserve their legal options.

Evidence gathering strengthens a wrongful death claim. Police reports, toxicology results, witness statements, and accident reconstruction findings can all play a role in establishing what happened and who bears responsibility.

A abogado de muerte por negligencia can help you and your family collect and preserve that evidence while managing communication with insurance companies and other involved parties.
