The accident happened around 12:30 p.m. on Wednesday, January 28, near the intersection of John Fitch Boulevard (Route 5) and Fitch Meadow Lane.
Emergency units responded quickly after receiving reports of the collision. Officials said the crash involved a passenger car and a commercial tractor-trailer. After the impact, a fire broke out in the engine compartment of the car. Crews arrived and worked to control the flames while assisting the injured driver.
