Stonington, CT (December 1, 2025) – A pedestrian and a moped operator suffered serious injuries in a crash Saturday evening, November 29, in Stonington. The collision happened around 6:25 p.m. on North Main Street along Route 1. Stonington Police said the pedestrian was walking in the area when a moped traveled in the same direction.
Investigators believe the moped struck the pedestrian from behind. After the impact, the moped rider lost control. The vehicle scraped along a guardrail and then crashed nearby. First responders reached the scene within minutes and provided emergency care to both victims.
Crews took both the pedestrian and the rider by ambulance to a hospital for treatment. Authorities have not released names or updated conditions. Police continue to investigate the cause of this crash.
We hope both injured people make strong recoveries.
Pedestrian Crashes in Connecticut
Crashes involving pedestrians can cause severe injuries because they don’t have much protection. Pedestrians often suffer broken bones, head trauma, or internal injuries when hit from behind. Even at moderate speeds, the body absorbs the full force of the impact.
Connecticut’s main corridors combine local entrances, narrow shoulders, and changing light conditions. At dusk, drivers and riders may struggle with glare or low visibility. If a rider looks away for a second or follows too closely, a pedestrian ahead may have no chance to react.
After a crash, victims often deal with more than physical pain. They may need surgery, therapy, and weeks away from work. Medical bills can pile up fast, especially when injuries affect mobility or cause lasting disability. In many cases, the injured person also faces anxiety about crossing streets or walking near traffic again.
A legal claim may help cover the losses tied to a serious crash. Compensation can include emergency treatment, hospital stays, follow-up care, and medication. It may also include rehabilitation costs, lost income, and the long-term effects of pain or reduced quality of life.
When another party caused the harm, a abogado de accidentes peatonales can gather traffic reports, witness statements, and medical records to build a clear case.
