What Legal Options Exist for a Worker Burned on the Job in Marlborough, CT?

A worker injured in a burn accident at a Connecticut workplace generally has the right to file a workers’ compensation claim, which can cover medical treatment and a portion of lost wages regardless of who was at fault.

In some cases, a third party separate from the employer, such as an equipment manufacturer or another contractor on site, may also bear responsibility, particularly if defective machinery or unsafe conditions contributed to the burns.

Burn injuries usually require extensive treatment, including skin grafts and long-term rehabilitation, and workers may face permanent scarring or reduced mobility depending on the severity of the harm.

Connecticut law generally requires workers to pursue compensation through the workers’ compensation system rather than suing an employer directly, but a abogado de lesiones personales can help determine whether a third-party claim is also available, which could provide additional compensation beyond what workers’ comp covers.

Preserving evidence such as equipment maintenance records, safety logs, and witness statements early on can also matter, since this kind of documentation can be harder to obtain as time passes.

At L.A. LAW, we can help explain how Connecticut’s workers’ compensation system applies to your specific case and whether a third-party claim may be possible.
