Hartford, CT (October 28, 2025) – One person was killed and another was injured on Monday, October 27, after a fire broke out in a multi-family home on Elliott Street in Hartford’s South End.
Firefighters arrived around 10:30 p.m. to find flames engulfing the first floor of the home, with the fire spreading rapidly to the second floor and roof. Crews immediately began deploying multiple hose lines to contain the blaze while calling for additional units to assist in the operation.
According to Hartford Fire Department officials, one person was pronounced dead at the scene. Their identity has not yet been released pending family notification. Another man was taken to a local hospital for treatment of smoke inhalation and has since been treated and released.
Firefighters battled the flames for several hours before bringing the situation under control. The Hartford Fire Department’s Fire Marshal’s Office, along with the Hartford Police Department and State Fire Investigation Unit, is currently investigating the cause of the fire.
