Hartford, CT (August 23, 2025) – Emergency crews responded to a downtown Hartford crash on Wednesday afternoon that left an 85-year-old man injured.
The collision occurred around 2:29 p.m. on August 20 along Columbus Boulevard near Allen Street, just outside the Subway restaurant. Hartford Fire Department units and EMS were dispatched after reports of a vehicle blocking part of the roadway.
According to radio traffic, responders were directed to the area of 100 Columbus Blvd., where they assisted with moving a damaged vehicle out of traffic while evaluating those involved. The elderly man was assessed for injuries at the scene, though officials have not yet confirmed the severity of his condition.
The crash took place in a busy stretch of downtown where office buildings, restaurants, and commuter traffic converge. The incident caused temporary delays as crews worked to secure the area and restore traffic flow.
Authorities have not released information on the total number of vehicles involved, and it remains unclear whether any citations will be issued. The cause of the crash is still under investigation.
Our thoughts are with the injured man, and we wish him a full and speedy recovery.
Connecticut Auto Accidents
Driving in Connecticut can be convenient and scenic, from cruising along I-95 to exploring winding backroads or commuting on Route 2. Yet every time you get behind the wheel, there’s inherent risk. Car accidents remain one of the state’s leading causes of injury, often leaving victims with serious physical harm and long-lasting effects.
Serious crashes go far beyond minor fender-benders. Injuries such as concussions, broken bones, spinal trauma, internal injuries, and emotional distress are common—even in collisions at lower speeds. Recovery frequently involves extensive medical treatment, rehabilitation, and time away from work, creating significant financial and emotional strain for victims and their families.
Many of these accidents are preventable. Most are caused by negligent behaviors, including:
- Distracted driving – Activities like texting, talking on the phone, or using GPS can take a driver’s focus off the road, leading to dangerous mistakes.
- Driving under the influence – Alcohol and drugs continue to be major contributors to severe and fatal crashes across Connecticut.
- Speeding and reckless driving – Excessive speed, unsafe lane changes, and failure to yield dramatically increase the likelihood of serious collisions.
If you or a loved one has been injured in a crash caused by another driver’s negligence, you may be entitled to compensation for medical bills, lost income, pain and suffering, and other damages.
