Hartford, CT (August 2, 2025) – A teenage girl was injured Friday night after being hit by a vehicle on Zion Street in Hartford. The collision occurred near 41 Zion Street around 9:00 p.m., prompting an immediate response from Hartford police and emergency medical crews.
Reports indicate the teen sustained a leg fracture in the accident. Hartford Fire and EMS personnel treated her at the scene and stabilized her before transporting her to a local hospital for further care.
The crash occurred in a residential area where pedestrian activity is common, particularly during evening hours. Zion Street was temporarily closed while first responders attended to the injured teen and began investigating the circumstances surrounding the collision.
Authorities have not released the teen’s identity, nor have they confirmed whether the driver remained at the scene. Police continue to collect witness statements and examine factors such as lighting, speed, and road conditions that may have contributed to the accident. Our thoughts are with the young victim and her family, and we wish her a swift and full recovery.
Pedestrian Accidents in Connecticut
Walking in Connecticut is a daily activity for thousands, whether it’s commuting along city streets, crossing busy intersections, or enjoying local parks and neighborhoods. But pedestrians face significant risks, especially when sharing the road with distracted, reckless, or impaired drivers.
Unlike people in vehicles, pedestrians have almost no protection. Even a low-speed collision can result in serious injuries such as broken bones, head trauma, spinal injuries, and lasting physical or emotional challenges.
Many pedestrian accidents in Connecticut are caused by drivers, not the person on foot. Common factors include:
- Driver distraction – Pedestrians can be overlooked when drivers are texting, using GPS, or otherwise distracted.
- Impaired driving – Alcohol or drug-impaired drivers pose a serious threat to those on foot, often causing life-altering or fatal injuries.
- Speeding and failure to yield – Drivers traveling too fast or ignoring crosswalks put pedestrians at extreme risk, especially at intersections and school zones.
If you or a loved one has been injured while walking due to someone else’s negligence, you may be entitled to compensation for medical bills, lost wages, pain and suffering, and other damages.
