Hartford, CT (August 13, 2025) – Hartford emergency responders were called to a traffic collision on I-91 southbound near Exit 33 on Monday afternoon. The crash, reported at approximately 1:45 p.m., involved at least one vehicle that deployed its airbags.
Crews from Hartford Fire Department Engine 2, along with tactical and district units, arrived on the scene to assess the situation. Medical personnel treated those injured, with at least one individual transported to a nearby hospital for further care. Details regarding the total number of injured parties and the severity of their injuries have not been released.
The crash caused delays in the southbound lanes as responders worked to secure the area, assist the injured, and remove debris. Traffic congestion persisted due to partial lane closures implemented for safety.
Authorities have not yet determined the cause of the collision, though factors such as sudden braking, lane-change conflicts, and distracted driving are commonly involved in similar highway incidents.
Officials urge drivers in the area to exercise caution and stay alert while navigating the scene. We extend our best wishes to all victims and hope for their quick and complete recovery.
