Hartford, CT (August 11, 2025) – Hartford emergency responders were called Monday morning to a traffic incident involving a motorized scooter and a passenger vehicle on Franklin Avenue near Braintree Street. The crash was reported at approximately 8:03 a.m., according to Hartford Police, Fire, and EMS.
Dispatch reports indicate that the scooter rider requested medical evaluation, prompting EMS to respond. The extent of injuries has not been confirmed at this time.
The collision took place along a busy South End corridor, where morning traffic from commuters, local businesses, and pedestrians contributes to complex driving conditions. While authorities continue to investigate, factors such as visibility, lane placement, and right-of-way may be considered in determining the cause.
Traffic through the area was only slightly affected, with emergency responders briefly slowing movement at the intersection while assessing the scene.

Connecticut Scooter Accidents
Scooter accidents are an increasingly common concern in Connecticut, disrupting lives, causing serious injuries, and leaving victims facing unexpected medical bills and uncertainty about the future. From busy streets in Hartford and New Haven to congested corridors in suburban towns, collisions involving scooters can happen in an instant—whether it’s a low-speed mishap in a neighborhood or a high-speed impact on a main thoroughfare.
Many scooter crashes are preventable and often share similar causes:
Distracted Driving: Even a momentary glance at a phone, GPS, or other distractions can have serious consequences for scooter riders, who are especially vulnerable on the road.
Impaired Driving: Alcohol and drugs continue to play a tragic role in accidents involving scooters, creating situations that can easily lead to severe injuries.
Speeding and Reckless Driving: Excessive speed or sudden lane changes leave scooter riders with little time to react, often intensifying the severity of crashes.
If you’ve been injured in a scooter accident caused by another driver’s negligence, you may be entitled to seek compensation for medical treatment, lost wages, pain, and emotional suffering. You don’t have to face this challenging process alone.
