Connecticut Car Crashes

Driving in Connecticut offers convenience and scenic routes—from commuting along I-95 to navigating Route 2 or traveling the state’s winding backroads. But behind the wheel, every trip carries risk. Car accidents are one of the leading causes of injury across the state, often leaving victims with painful injuries and lasting consequences.

Unlike minor fender benders, serious crashes can cause devastating harm. Injuries such as concussions, spinal damage, broken bones, internal bleeding, and emotional trauma are all too common, even in collisions that happen at relatively low speeds. Recovery often requires extensive medical care, rehabilitation, and time away from work—burdens that can overwhelm both victims and their families.

What makes these crashes especially difficult is that most of them could have been prevented. The majority are caused by negligence, including:

  • Distracted driving – Texting, phone use, or even GPS navigation takes a driver’s attention off the road, making it easy to miss other vehicles.
  • Driving under the influence – Impaired drivers continue to cause severe and fatal accidents in Connecticut each year.
  • Speeding and reckless driving – Traveling too fast, failing to yield, or making unsafe lane changes drastically increases the risk of a serious collision.
