New London, CT (August 18, 2025) – A scooter rider was injured on Saturday evening, August 16, after being struck in a hit-and-run crash involving a silver Mazda sedan in New London.
The collision occurred near Lincoln Avenue just after 5 p.m., according to local law enforcement. Officials say the man on the scooter was conscious when emergency crews arrived but sustained a suspected knee injury that required on-scene medical care.
The vehicle involved—described as a silver Mazda sedan carrying two to three occupants—did not remain at the scene. Witnesses reported that the car may have front-end damage and possibly bore out-of-state license plates, potentially from Pennsylvania. It was last observed turning from Lincoln Avenue westbound before possibly heading onto Hillside.
Police from Groton, Ledyard, and Stonington assisted in the response, and investigators are now reviewing surveillance footage in an effort to track down the suspect vehicle. The case remains under active investigation.
