Plainville, CT (September 16, 2025) – A multi-vehicle collision on Interstate 84 in Plainville left one person injured on Monday night, September 15, and sparked a search for two people who fled the scene.
According to the Connecticut State Police, the crash occurred around 8:15 p.m. near Exit 35. Four cars were traveling eastbound in the left lane, including two Toyota Rav4 SUVs, a Nissan Sentra, and a Lexus GS300. Investigators said the three leading vehicles slowed for traffic congestion when the Lexus driver reportedly failed to stop in time.
The Lexus struck the rear of the Nissan, setting off a chain reaction. The impact pushed the Nissan into the back of one Toyota Rav4, while the second Rav4 slammed into the rear of the first.
Authorities said two people ran from the Lexus after the collision. K-9 teams searched the area, while Plainville and New Britain police assisted state troopers.
Emergency responders transported the Nissan driver to New Britain Hospital with injuries. Tow trucks later removed the Nissan and Lexus from the highway. Police continue to search for the fleeing occupants and investigate the cause of the crash.
We wish a full and speedy recovery to the injured victim.
