West Hartford, CT (August 29, 2025) – A crash with injuries caused significant delays on I-84 eastbound on Tuesday morning after lanes were blocked near Exit 44. The incident was reported just after 11 a.m. and brought a large emergency response, including police, firefighters, and EMS.
The collision took place in the center lane, bringing traffic to a halt as first responders provided aid to those involved and worked to secure the scene. At least one person was reported injured, though authorities have not confirmed the total number of victims or detailed the severity of their injuries. Paramedics evaluated individuals on site and arranged transport to a nearby hospital.
Traffic backups stretched along the interstate as lanes remained closed while crews investigated and cleared the wreckage. Once the vehicles were removed and the roadway deemed safe, traffic flow was restored.
We hope for a full and speedy recovery for everyone affected by this crash.
Car Accidents in Connecticut
Car accidents are a leading cause of serious injury across Connecticut, impacting drivers, passengers, cyclists, and pedestrians every single day. Whether on high-traffic interstates like I-95 and I-84 or on neighborhood roads, a crash can happen in an instant—often leaving victims with concussions, fractures, internal injuries, and lasting emotional scars.
What makes these incidents even more difficult is that so many are preventable. Distracted driving, alcohol or drug impairment, excessive speed, and reckless maneuvers continue to play a major role in collisions throughout the state. Even so-called “minor” crashes can lead to steep medical expenses, missed work, and months of rehabilitation.
First responders across Connecticut work tirelessly to aid crash victims and keep roads safe, while safety campaigns emphasize seatbelt use, safe speeds, and defensive driving. Despite these efforts, thousands of people continue to suffer the devastating consequences of motor vehicle accidents each year.
