West Hartford, CT (September 10, 2025) – A juvenile bicyclist was struck by a vehicle in a hit-and-run incident on Tuesday morning, September 9, near the intersection of Albany Avenue and Lindy Lane in West Hartford.

The collision occurred around 7 a.m. when the cyclist, who was riding near the corner, was hit by a vehicle described as a dark-colored SUV or hatchback. Emergency services quickly responded to the scene, where they found the juvenile alert and conscious.

The cyclist was transported to a nearby hospital with injuries. Thankfully, authorities confirmed that the injuries were not critical. However, the driver who caused the crash fled the scene eastbound on Albany Avenue.

The West Hartford Police Department is actively investigating the incident.

We wish the injured victim a speedy and full recovery.

Bicycle and Pedestrian Accidents in Connecticut

Bicycle accidents are becoming an increasing concern in Connecticut, especially in areas with high traffic like Albany Avenue in West Hartford.

When drivers fail to stop for cyclists or pedestrians, the consequences can be severe, leading to injuries or, in some cases, fatalities.

In hit-and-run accidents, the situation becomes even more complicated, as the responsible driver leaves the scene, making it harder for the victim to receive immediate assistance. If the driver is not caught, victims and their families may face a long and uncertain road ahead in terms of legal and financial recovery.

If you or someone you know has been involved in a bicycle or pedestrian accident, you may be entitled to compensation for your injuries and losses. Some of the damages that could be covered by a personal injury claim include:

  • Medical expenses – From initial emergency care to long-term treatments, medical bills can add up quickly after an accident. Compensation can help cover these costs, including future care if necessary.
  • Lost wages – If the victim is unable to work due to their injuries, they may be entitled to compensation for lost income during recovery.
  • Pain and suffering – Accidents often result in emotional distress and physical pain that can last long after the accident. Compensation can address these intangible losses.
  • Property damage – If the bicycle was damaged in the accident, compensation may be available to cover repairs or replacement.
  • Legal fees – In cases where the responsible driver is not found or has no insurance, an attorney can help navigate through uninsured motorist claims or seek compensation from other sources.
